Hey friends! We have been in Guatemala for a little over two weeks! Time is flying by already. This week God really comforted me with my team. I was struggling quite a bit mentally the last couple of weeks with being away from loved ones, stressing over what life has for me the next 11 months and my anxiety with that. Now I am feeling more and more at home every day, surrounded by such great people that represent Christ so well. We have gotten to know each other so much over the last few days and are always there for one another when we start to miss home.
This past week in ministry we got to play with kids again and it was so cool to see how excited they got to just get out of their houses and interact with us. We also did ATL ministry, which stands for Ask the Lord. We prayed before going out into the villages and asked God where he wanted us to go. It was neat to depend on the Lord in this way and see where we ended up. My group ended up meeting a Christian family. The mom invited us into her house, and we got to pray with her and her special needs son. My heart felt so heavy after talking and praying with them. The mom has devoted her life to taking care of her son and the rest of her kids and it just gave me so much respect for her. We then got to sing How Great is Our God in Spanish with them before we left, and it was such a cool experience. We hope to be able to go back and be able to find other ways to bless them.
The next house we went to was definitely the Lord calling us there. We were going to be done for the day, but we all felt God’s presence telling us to go back to the village. So, we went, and we got to talk to three more people about Christ and pray over them and their families. One of the women we talked to had a lot of pain in her back because she always is working hard and does not have enough money for physical therapy and medication. We asked her if she believed in miracles. She said yes. So, we all laid our hands on her back and prayed for healing. After we prayed, she said her pain went from a 5 to a 2 and we asked if we could pray again for healing. So, we laid our hands back on her back and prayed again. She told us afterwards that when we put our hands on her the second time, she felt a burning feeling on her back and then it was gone. She said it felt like the Holy Spirit taking her pain away and before we left, she told us she had no more pain. God works in such miraculous ways. We do not know why he works the way he does or why he chooses to heal some people and not others. But what we do know is that he loves us all so dearly and wants the best for us.
I have been a follower of Christ since I was a kid. Growing up in a Christian family gave me such great foundation. However, that never stopped me from questioning God and asking him to show me his presence. I have had a lot of trials in my life, we all have, and the one thing that always remains the same in our trials is God’s love for us. No matter the amount of anxiety, depression, hardships, and failures we all have, God is waiting for us to cling to him. For us to die to ourselves and live for him daily. Our Heavenly Father wants his kids to come home, and he has and will take care of us in his own timing and his own way.
Please pray for my team and squad these last two weeks that we will be able to reach those who do not know the name of Jesus before we leave Guatemala. There are many here that believe it is all about good works to get to heaven and to be with God, but they are missing the gift of who Jesus was and is today. Pray for the Guatemalans understanding of the word. Please also pray for Afghanistan and what is going on over there and for the Christians that are risking their own lives to reach the unreached and giving up everything to spread the word of Christ. Pray for their families and for the country as a whole. That God will break their hearts for what breaks his and show his love and protection to his children. We are so lucky in the States to live in a country where we do not get persecuted for just saying the name of Jesus. We need to take advantage of that because we never know in this day in age when that could change.
Thanks again for all my supporters I am SO close to being fully funded for my race! Once I hit my goal, I will be continuing to fundraise for the whole year to help me stay afloat. There is no specific goal, but since I will be living off support all year, I wanted those who did not get to donate to be able to have that opportunity to and it would be very much appreciated and needed! I am beyond grateful for those who have already donated directly to me, it means so much! I am finally learning what it means to depend on God for my every single need and to let others help me when I need it. God has been humbling me already in just the first few weeks!
To give to me directly: Venmo @Michaela-Roys , Cashapp @MichaelaRoys
Thank you again for following my journey and I pray that my blogs and my testimony will move hearts in the States! Love and miss you all!
Genesis 28:15, “What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything, I have promised you.”

So amazed at the way Evergreen has handled this month. You guys have served each other so well…not to mention all those you’re touching along the way. Thanks also for sharing this stunning truth: “God is waiting for us to cling to him. For us to die to ourselves and live for him daily.” So good.
