Sooooo something that comes with traveling during a pandemic is FLEXIBILITY and with that comes changes. As some of you may know Asia is unfortunately still closed ? with that being said, what does that mean for the rest of our race? Well, we are still going to South America after Nicaragua and will be traveling to Columbia, Ecuador, and newly added PERU! This is a major blessing; I have been praying for another country in South America and we are all very excited about Peru! The next real big news is what we will be doing the last four months of the race! Our AIM team back in the states had been praying over it and we all just found out this week that we are going to……….AFRICA! Countries are to be determined but we are excited to see what God is going to be doing during those four months! When I first heard the news, I have to say I was devastated, and honestly I am still taking it in. The reason I chose this route was mainly to go to Asia, so I am pretty bummed out about it. Though the Lord has already started working in my heart about the change. Reminding myself that God is fully in control of where we end up on this journey is the most comforting thing I could ask for. Even though I am still sad about the change of plans and a little nervous, I am excited to learn about a whole new culture and meet even more people. I know God is going to move wherever we end up and is going to do some incredible things in my heart as well.
That is all the updated news I have on the race, along with this upcoming month being in one of my favorite countries NICARAGUA! This month is ATL month where we will be asking the Lord where he wants us to go live and where to serve at. We are with our individual teams again, which I am excited about, and my team will be in Managua for the first two weeks! The first week we will be teaming up with a church that my church from home is connected to! So, I will be able to see some familiar faces, which I am beyond pumped about! I will be asking for prayer for this upcoming month and the different ministries we will be working with. Also, prayer for being able to discern what the Lord is leading us to do and what is not from him. It will be a month of learning how to listen, how to be patient and how to fully trust in the Lord.
Speaking about trusting the Lord, I have been struggling with something the last few weeks. One thing I have wanted to get better at is vulnerability, so what better way of doing that then with all ya’ll. So here we go, I have been in a tough spot with money. Thanks to God and my supporters I am fully funded for the race itself. However, I have monthly payments back home that have made it difficult for me to be able to experience some of the things I enjoy doing while traveling. Some of those things could include adventures with my team or food on off days, or even simple treats like the occasional iced coffee or a snack to make me feel at home on long days. These things are not necessities, so please, do not in any way feel pressured to donate. The Lord has been continuously convicting me to put this out there for a while now and to just lay it at his feet. He has been teaching me how to truly humble myself and not be afraid to ask for help.
If you would like to donate you can cashapp ($Michaela Roys) or Venmo (Michaela-Roys) me. You can even add what you would like me to use it for and I will send you a picture and description of how it blessed me that day!! I want to thank you all for continuously reading my blogs and following my journey, it has meant so much to know I have people back home supporting and cheering me on! If you have any questions, concerns or would like clarification on any of this please reach out and ask!
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
I am believing both of these things with you: “I know God is going to move wherever we end up and is going to do some incredible things in my heart as well.” I love you and I love your heart!
